‚For what did you
have to lie so much? Nikolay Gumilyov’s letters to Natalya Varbanets.
1950-1956. – St.-P.: Agat, 2005
The famous historian L. N. Gumilyov’s letters written in 1950s in the
concentration camp are represented in this book. The letters are addressed
to N. V. Varbanets, a woman with whom Gumilyov wanted to cast in his lot.
These letters are a striking illustration of that time, a unique document
of that historical period telling about people’s life under the conditions
of the totalitarian state.<<
